1. What SeatPair is

SeatPair shows two passengers on the same flight that each of them would prefer the other's seat. That is the entire service. It is a matching platform and nothing else.

2. What SeatPair is not

  • It is not an airline, a travel agent or a ticket seller.
  • It does not book, change, reserve or allocate seats.
  • It has no relationship with, endorsement from, or access to any airline's systems.
  • It does not guarantee that a swap will happen, or that a match will be found at all.

3. The cabin crew decide

Seat allocation on board is the airline's decision and the cabin crew have the final say. Your boarding pass still shows your original seat. If a crew member asks you to return to your assigned seat, do so — do not argue on board, and do not cite SeatPair as authority. Some seats also carry restrictions we cannot see, such as emergency exit rows, seats allocated for infants, or seats with extra-legroom fees.

4. Using the service

By listing a seat you confirm that:

  • You hold a valid booking for that flight and are actually assigned that seat.
  • You are listing one seat per passenger and not creating decoy or duplicate listings.
  • You will not sell, auction, or ask for payment for a seat swap arranged here.
  • You are complying with your airline's conditions of carriage and with applicable aviation rules.

SeatPair is free. If anyone asks you to pay for a swap, that person is not acting for us.

5. Abuse

Listings that appear fraudulent, automated, duplicated or intended to disrupt matching are removed without notice. Repeated abuse from the same connection may be blocked. We keep reports of failed swaps for up to 90 days for this purpose.

6. Availability

SeatPair is offered as-is, free of charge, with no promise of uptime. Listings expire automatically after the departure day, and we may close a route or the whole service at any time. Notifications depend on your browser and your operating system; on iOS they only work if the site has been added to your Home Screen.

7. Liability

We are liable without limitation for damage resulting from injury to life, body or health, and for damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence. For slight negligence we are liable only where an essential contractual obligation is breached, and only up to the foreseeable damage typical of this kind of service. Because SeatPair is free and arranges no transport, this in practice excludes liability for a swap that does not happen, a seat that is already occupied, a missed connection, or any consequence of an airline's decision.

8. Anonymity, and its limits

You do not need an account. Your listing is controlled by whoever holds its link, so treat the link like a key: anyone you send it to can see and delete that listing. Sharing your flight page with fellow travellers is expected and safe — sharing the link to your own listing gives that person control of it.

9. Governing law

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Where you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence.
